Independence Pictures launch campaign for new soap – STORYLINE

By The Web Surgery, Web Design, Website Design Business

Independence Pictures have just launched a Kickstarter campaign to help raise funds for a new soap called STORYLINE.

About STORYLINE

STORYLINE will be a new soap that is fast-paced, with quick-fire comedy and dramatic twists.  The soap is written by Neil Anthony Docking (Emmerdale, Casualty) and directed by Maxine Evans (Coronation Street, Crossroads).

“There are some real home truths in it.” – Mark Homer (Eastenders)

Independence Pictures wants to make 3 episodes and broadcast them for free across the internet with each episode being around 15-18 minutes long and feature the international cast of Jane Gurnett, Terri Dwyer, Mark Homer, Steve Speirs, Jo Matthews, Deddie Davies, Mary Healey, Morgan Deare, Cameron Blakely, Tilly Blackwood, Ruth Minkley, Ray Emmet Brown, Lewes Roberts and John Weldon.

“Who are these people and what are they doing in my house!?” – Neil Anthony Docking (Writer).

STORYLINE takes you behind the scenes of a soap, showing you what actors, producers and storyliners say about each other!

“It’s like Fawlty Towers meets 30 Rock meets Family Guy meets Birdman meets The Office meets Silence of the Lambs!” – Maxine Evans (Director).

You can support this exciting new soap comedy from £10 but you can also audition for a support role in the show or sing as a guest vocalist on the theme song or get a featured walk-on part.

Comedy is a serious business. It is. Seriously…

Support STORYLINE by going to their Kickstarter campaign

New Acting ELearning website launches in UK

By The Web Surgery, Web Design, Web Design Richmond, Web Design UK

Audition Doctor Launches Online E-Learning Course on new eLearning website for Actors

Actor and founder of Audition Doctor, Tilly Blackwood,  www.auditiondoctor.co.uk has launched her first eLearning course ‘The Insider’s Guide on How To Get Into Drama School’, which is exclusively available from today on the new eLearning platformwww.thecreativescene.com

‘The Insider’s Guide on How To Get Into Drama School’ is the first course to launch on  www.thecreativescene.com.  The course provides an invaluable insight into the rigorous process and competitiveness of drama school auditions – giving advice such as how to prepare for auditions to more specific tips on the preferences of each individual drama school.

The new eLearning platform www.thecreativescene.com caters for aspiring actors and anyone attracted to the arts world looking for training, and advice on breaking into the industry.

Tilly Blackwood runs Audition Doctor, which predominately teaches London-based students, however she realised an increasing number of pupils outside of London, as well as overseas, were looking for learning and training even the most remote areas in the world and wanted something more substantial than Skype sessions that they could use outside of lesson time.

Audition Doctor’s Tilly Blackwood said, “I noticed that existing online courses failed to offer the calibre of artistic and practical advice that was requisite to a successful audition. Competition has always been tough for drama school places and there can be up to four stages of auditions before a place is offered. The generic advice that is being offered to prospective drama school students at the moment simply is not informative enough to be either helpful or inspiring. This prompted me to design a course such as The Insider’s Guide on How To Get Into Drama School so that would be a constructive and motivating tool in furthering their acting abilities”.

The Insider’s Guide on How To Get Into Drama School draws on Tilly’s own experience of drama school at the Guildhall School of Speech and Drama, her extensive knowledge from coaching many students who go onto secure places at London’s top drama schools, as well as the expertise of Patricia Doyle (RADA). Patricia who also assesses is a dramaturge for the Northern Ballet Theatre Company, co-director of frequent productions with the company and also assesses students at leading drama schools.

Both Tilly Blackwood and Patricia Doyle teach at the renowned Actor’s Centre in Covent Garden, London and have insight into what is expected from students.

The one-hour course costs £4.99 as a one off payment and will allow access to the course for up to one year.

New eLearning courses will be constantly added to www.thecreativescene.com.  Visitors can register to receive news and updates of when new courses are available.

Actress Takes The Lead And Launches ‘Audition Doctor’

By Web Design, Web Design Richmond, Web Design UK

Actress Tilly Blackwood has launched Audition Doctor, a new business start-up which provides coaching and tuition for drama school applicants, professional actors, corporate clients and individuals whose job requires effective communication.

Tilly took the pragmatic step to set up, Audition Doctor when she found herself struggling with a sudden lack of work. Having attended one of Britain’s best drama schools – The Guildhall School of Music and Drama – coupled with having worked with actors and directors who have exerted influence on not only the British but international stage, she was equipped with a body of knowledge few could boast of.

As an actress she has worked with the theatrical industry’s elite, from Sir Peter Hall and Max Stafford-Clark to Lindsay Posner and Simon Curtis. Her achingly funny performance as Helena in ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ with Dawn French, prompted Jennifer Saunders to write her into ‘Absolutely Fabulous.’

Tilly’s current pool of clients are professionals from a range of spheres that includes journalists, architects and development directors from charitable organisations.

60 Second Interview with Tilly Blackwood

By Web Design

Name: Tilly Blackwood
Company: Audition Doctor
Website: www.auditiondoctor.co.uk

1. What is your business?
Put simply, i am a teacher and mentor to people who want to act. I work with students who wish to go to drama school, professional actors who wish to develop their skills or identify problems and those in the corporate world who need to work on their presentational skills.

2. How do you make your business work?
I have been in business for a relatively short period of time- one year, and i am learning all the time; quite literally in some cases, as i had to put myself through a computer course. What i would say as a result of this very steep learning curve, is that unless you have a concrete belief in what you’re selling, then you’re scuppered. After a year’s experience as Audition Doctor, my confidence has only grown; 80% of my drama school applicants, who in some cases were applying for the third time, will be beginning their training in September at accredited drama schools, i have repeat appointments with professional actors and i teach regularly at the highly respected Actors Centre. These endorsements serve only to make me more driven and i hope that this determination and confidence in my teaching abilities will make Audition Doctor a success.

3. What’s the secret to your success?
I think it’s a little early in the day to infer that I’ve achieved anything like the success that i think Audition Doctor deserves; it is still very much a work in progress. However, i hope that my dogged determination will ensure that real success is absolutely achievable and soon.
