Now That You're Gone - 26 October 2017

The Urban State New Single Release – 27th October 2017

By Marketing, PR, SEO

Infectiously catchy pop collective, The Urban State, are ready to fill the dance floor once again, with yet another great offering from their latest album, Introducing Angela.

“Now That You’re Gone” is the second release from the album, and is in keeping with their unique and eclectic sound. Pop beats marry perfectly with soaring vocals, giving the listener all of the feels, all of the time.

Listen On Spotify

Full of funky beats, blaring horns and soulful breaks, “Now That You’re Gone” may tell a woeful tale of missing someone, but the track is anything but down beat.

An ebullient out pouring of emotion, “Now That You’re Gone” has a retro feel, that delivers driving beats with enthusiastic vocals. No time to wallow in the sorrow of a missing lover, the track makes a break-up feel like the funkiest thing to have ever happened.

Our protagonist, in this case singer Angela, tells the tale of a lover filled with regret, sitting alone and crying, but as a listener you definitely won’t be feeling woeful. As the first track on their new album, “Now That You’re Gone” envelops you in the soul and sound of the collective, and promises good things to come.

Being a successful electronic pop and disco collective, The Urban State pulls together the very best of pop, funk, soul and disco to continually produce, toe-tapping upbeat numbers that will have you singing along in no time.

From the opening beats, down to the jaunty vocals, “Now That You’re Gone” uses the awesome power of electro-pop to punctuate existential woes. Join The Urban State on a journey through the tumult of human emotions, using bright beats, quick tempos, and lyrical vulnerability to make even the darkest days seem like the perfect time to strut your funkiest stuff.

The Urban State - Let's Dance

Funky, Pop, Disco Collective Release New Single – Lets Dance

Funky, pop and disco collective, The Urban State have announced their first single release for some time.

Lets Dance – an upbeat track with plenty of funk, looks set to put The Urban State firmly back on the map.

One of the earliest songs recorded for their new album, Introducing Angela, Let’s Dance deals with the tumult of emotions felt after a relationship disintegrates.

The lyrics tell the story of a separation and reflect back on the best parts of a relationship that has run it’s course. The disco vibe and feel good melody are a reflection of a time when it’s right to move on and look to the future. Plenty of wah-wah and bursts of brass give this track a cheerful and optimistic feel.

With the lyrics telling us that it is time to “dance and move our feet” you would be hard pushed not to find yourself toe-tapping along to this bubbly little number that smiles through the sad times.

“Let’s Dance” offers a mature perspective on the end of a love affair, all wrapped up in a disco beat. Exciting times are ahead for this creative and charming electro-pop collective, who throw their hearts and souls into their musical collaborations.

Grab your dancing shoes, put the past behind you and set sail on a journey of joyful new beginnings with “Lets Dance” from The Urban State.

Let’s Dance is released on the 11th October 2017 and is available to download on

The Urban State Release Debut Single – Don’t Say A Word

By Web Design, Web Design Richmond, Web Design UK

Breaking onto the scene, new pop/electronica collective, The Urban State, are set to release their first single, ‘Don’t Say A Word’ on June 7th taken from their upcoming debut album ‘Love On Loop’ for release this summer.

‘Don’t Say a Word’, is electro/dance pop at its best. It’s soulful and squelchy when it counts, a celebration of the all-consuming need to get on the floor.

The single showcases the talents of singer, songwriter and founding member R-Jay, singer Miss Reprazent, and Producer Mix Master Matt, who’s worked with Leftfield, Finlay Quay, Boy George and System 7 just to name a few.

The Urban State is the brainchild of R-Jay, an East London based songwriter who wanted to bring together a collective of singers, songwriters and artists to create music & art that showcased the talents of all those involved and give air to their creativity in an environment where everyone has a voice.

With ‘Don’t Say a Word’ this trio of talent has crafted a sound that encapsulates the essence of urban bliss – captivating a pop/electronica tune for the modern listeners discerning ear. With shared influences including Justice, Fedde Le Grand, Calvin Harris, Example, Basement Jaxx and Daft Punk, the collective’s sound clearly reflects the thrill of dance-pop’s genre trashing and reaching for something fresh and different.

“I love the textures in the production of the song and how it has light & shade”, says R-Jay. “I like the contrast between my vocal and Miss Reprazent’s- without a doubt that girl can sing”.
