Why should you consider starting a business later in life?
Below are just a few of the reasons:
Superior Experience
Youth is great. Younger businesspeople may have vigour and optimism, but do they have the experience to make their idea stick? As an older businessperson you are less likely to be naïve about the challenges and realities of business. You know yourself better, can play to your own strengths and weaknesses and build a business around your best skills.
Less Family Commitments
Chances are you do have a family, but you’ve come through the “growing family” phase and are unlikely to see your business slowed down because of marriages, pregnancies or similar. Your personal goals and obligations in your personal life are probably already met so you have the time and the freedom to concentrate on your business. You are likely to have less familial financial commitments too.
Make Business a Priority
You can 100% prioritise your business. You already have your priorities in place and won’t be simply bouncing around potential business ideas for the fun of it. Older entrepreneurs know what they want. They may not know exactly how to get there but they will be able to find the right people to help. Your working life will have introduced you to many different people and you may be surprised how many can support you as your business grows. Later in life it is much more likely you’ll select your business idea because it means something to you and you know you can make a success of it.
